April is Poetry Month

Have you read any good poetry lately? Have you written any good (or bad) poetry lately? Stop by the Teen Room for our poetry display and information on poetry contests. You could win prizes and be published.

Harry Potter Wizard Challenge

Today I tried the Harry Potter Wizard Challenge at Scholastic's website. I only got a 4, but I'm also just reading book 4. If you want to try it and practice for BTPL's Harry Potter Lock-In Party trivia contest, go to www.scholastic.com/harrypotter/challenge/index.htm. Good Luck!

White Dwarf Magazine

White Dwarf Magazine is now at BTPL! It's located in the YA room with the other YA magazines. We have one copy that can circulate and a newer one that can't. Keep watching for new issues each month!

Did you know Warhammer 40k has a librarian warrior? It comes with psychic abilities - we know all and see all. How cool is that? The official name is Psykana Librarius. See the March 2007 edition, page 76.

Gaming Lock-In Applause

Gracias, kudos, thank you!

I want to thank Ben, Tonja, and Steve for staying late at the library (past midnight and our bedtimes) on Friday, March 16 to supervise our first ever lock-in. What a blast! We had 29 teens arrive with their game faces on (one in a sprightly leprechaun outfit) to play Warhammer 40k, DDR, on line games, board games, and cards. We had pizza and pop to munch on and I believe a good time was had by all.

Do you want another lock-in? What kind of lock-in?

Warhammer 40k League Play!

The Brandon Township Public Library will be hosting Warhammer 40k League Play this Saturday, March 31, 2007 from 9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the Community Room. Bring your armies and prepare to do battle! Contact Ben Peterson at 248-627-1461 or bpeterson@brandonlibrary.org for more information.

Hope Closet

Thank you, Brandon and Ortonville communities, for your generous support of Hope Closet. Over 70 dresses, plus shoes and purses, were donated to provide girls an opportunity to attend prom who might otherwise not be able to afford it. The Brandon Library is no longer accepting donations. Contact Hope Closet to donate at this time.

Hope Closet's Prom Boutique will be held April 14 - April 21, 2007, by appointment only, at Royal Oak First United Methodist Church, 320 W. Seventh St., Royal Oak, MI. The church is located at the corner of Seventh and Lafayette in downtown Royal Oak. You must contact Hope Closet and set an appointment time. Walk-ins will not be accommodated. Contact Hope Closet at www.hopecloset@yahoo.com. Bring your high school I.D. or current high school report card. You DO NOT have to show proof of financial need.

I hope all girls in this blogsphere who want to attend prom will be able to.

Rock on! and have a safe prom season.
